People in the Calder Valley who experienced the devastating floods of December 2015 will have information and ideas about the causes of and solutions to flooding. We need these if we are to understand what should be the type of response that now must be provided in order to protect our communities against future flooding.
"We're collecting evidence of the causes of and solutions to flooding, and will review the contributions submitted to caldervalleyfloods.org.uk".- Paul Cobbing, independent Chair of the Calderdale Floods Commission
The purpose of this website - provided by Calder Future (the river partnership for Calderdale) and Calderdale Friends of the Earth - is to allow individuals to contribute that information about flooding as they experienced it, in their particular location, and to ask questions, make comments and discuss what might be those ‘causes’ and ‘solutions’. All this will be accessible to the recently appointed Calderdale Floods Commission, the Environment Agency, Calderdale Council, all other organisations working to respond to the floods, and of course people and businesses across Calderdale. But please note that this website is not provided by the Floods Commission.
You can ask a question, or make a comment. You can categorise your contribution according to its particular subject, and therefore you’ll be able to search for similar responses and then have an online discussion. You can upload photos and videos, often vital evidence.
